Here is another photo that includes a man made object as part of nature. (See also "Castle Coach.") The sad journey that we imagine about this image was probably doomed from the outset if they planned on going much further. Ahead is a rugged section of the San Rafael Reef in southeast Utah. Today, photographic opportunities abound here and are much more accessible thanks to modern four-wheel drive vehicles that are more likely to return home after the trip.
