Bordering the northeastern corner of Yellowstone National Park, the Beartooth Mountains in Montana encompass one of the largest land masses in the United States above 10,000 feet. Consisting of Pre-Cambrian granite peaks and plateaus, mountain meadows and lakes that were shaped by thousands of years of glacial movement, they provide many opportunities for nature or landscape photography.
Of the many photographs I've seen of this area, very few include the particularly pointed and rugged peak from which the area derives its name. This image shows the "bear's tooth" in the extreme upper right hand corner of the photo.
